Thank you so much for your interest in becoming an independent contractor for interpreting and/or translation services with our agency. We look forward to working with you.
To start the recruitment and onboarding process, we have attached below the request for information form and permission for a background check, and a Language Proficiency Form as the first steps in bringing you on as an independent contractor.
Please complete and return the following face sheet and documents, with a copy of any certificates of training you may have to recruit@oneworldtranslation.com. We also need your drivers' license and proof of insurance if you will be doing on-site work for us. Please email to the above address.
Once those are returned to us, we will assess if you are eligible for our FastTrack education program or not or for immediate hire (if you have a professional interpreting certificate) to work with us as a professional Interpreter/Translator.
The fast-track education involves taking a class we have recorded on tape and a quiz. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and professionally practice your newly acquired skills.
We do encourage you to sign up for a 40-hour interpreter education course if you find you like this work and we will allow you to try it out. The owner, Ms. Weaver is a credentialed instructor who can provide valuable suggestions about furthering your education. We prefer the Bridging the Gap courses as they are best suited for medical interpreting, which is the largest nbeeded service in this industry. The way it is taught is easiest to absorb and understand. It is also the most cost-effective.
This "as needed" Independent Contractor offer is contingent on successful screening and meeting the required IC qualifications. An Independent Contractor is not an employee. If you are not familiar or experienced with working as an “IC:, we strongly suggest that you research the difference. If you do receive an IC contract, we do expect you to read, and understand it.
We send a 15-point summary to be sure you initial and show understanding of some of the 15 points people often miss.
Once we receive the completed forms, a recruiter will review your application and contact you for the next step. We're excited to welcome you aboard towards mutual success and pride in this industry! We will arrange the fast track course with you.
So, please do not delay if you need an introductory course.
